In collaboration with stevedores at the port of Beirut (only months before the tragic explosion this year) this video takes place in the extra-territorial space between the ship and the port. It The depicts an extraordinary moment, in which an entire ship was infested with thousands of dragonflies. While the dock-workers play with and film the dragonflies with their phones, they give testimonies (as if talking to the flying insects) of their working conditions. Taking off from the “Move or Die” logic of UPS’s “Great Migrations” campaign (about migration of animals), the necropolitical violence of logistics is made horrifically evident, in knowing this whole area since been completely destroyed, due to reasons that intersect with the video’s reading of the dragonflies.
